What to Expect With Your NeoGen Plasma Treatment
Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect to experience, from consultation to aftercare, as a patient at STORY Clinic Southwell:
1. Consultation
We begin with a full skin assessment: analysing your skin type, concerns, medical history, and aesthetic goals. We will then create a tailored plan and discuss what you can expect from treatment, including the energy level based on your needs and how to combine with our other treatments if needed. During this time, you’ll receive thorough pre-treatment advice.
Furthermore, an Observ skin analysis is carried out during your consultation to review overall skin health and reveal conditions that are not always visible to the naked eye such as pigmentation, sun damage, dehydration and signs of ageing. This device also helps us to track treatment progress during your review appointment.
2. Treatment Session
A topical numbing cream may be applied, depending on the energy setting and patient sensitivity, to ensure patient comfort. Your practitioner will then deliver the plasma treatment across the target area using NeoGen’s hand piece. You may feel a warm or tingling sensation; however, treatments are generally well tolerated.
Our practitioners at Southwell have undergone extensive, specialist training to ensure every NeoGen treatment is delivered safely, precisely, and with beautifully natural-looking results. For treatments up to 1.8J, you’ll be in the hands of our highly trained Skin Experts, while higher energy sessions are performed exclusively by a doctor — ideal for tackling deeper skin concerns or more advanced skin laxity.
Treatment time is also relatively short (60–75 minutes) with downtime dependent on the energy level used (low to high). Recovery time can last for approximately 7–10 days, although this can vary from patient to patient.
3. After Treatment
The skin may appear red, flushed or have a ‘sunburn’ type of feeling — this is normal. Gradual improvements are often visible within 2–4 weeks as collagen remodels, this is why we advise a course of three treatments for optimal results.
After each treatment session, your practitioner will also provide full guidance on how to support healing in between sessions, such as avoiding all sun exposure and tanning treatments for 3–4 weeks after treatment, in addition to following skincare advice recommended by your practitioner.
It’s important to remember, when using high energy levels, your skin will often look its worst at 3–5 days after treatment, and continues to improve following this up to 8–10 days.
4. Maintenance
Each session builds on the last, maximising collagen and elastin production. After your course of treatments, depending on your skin concerns, you may benefit from single “maintenance” sessions 6–12 months after your package treatments. NeoGen’s flexibility allows us to adjust for long-term skin health.
Other healthy skin habits in-between treatments include hydration, sun protection and skincare products recommended by your practitioner.
