The STORY Skin Peels Boutique is a one-stop shop for a high-end, high-performance skin treatment experience. We assess your skin’s needs, listen to your concerns and select the best possible peel to meet your goals. We can also tailor bespoke treatment plans to maximise your results, because peels play very well with others… Whatever your skin type, skin tone or concern, our Skin Peels Boutique has your perfect solution.

Skin peels, also known as chemical peels, are resurfacing treatments that remove the old and dead cells from the skin’s surface revealing the young and healthy skin cells underneath. In addition to its resurfacing action, each peel has its own combination of ingredients that have numerous beneficial properties for the skin.

At STORY our Skin Peels Boutique offers a wide range of peels as well as the expertise to create the best tailored treatment plan for you. We have a choice of superficial or medical grade peels…

Superficial peels are mild and gentle, more than a facial but less than a medical grade peel and excellent for maintenance and prevention.

Medical grade peels are stronger and address specific skin concerns (acne, sun-damage, skin laxity, pigmentation) by using potent active ingredients such as retinol, TCA and salicylic acid.

Superficial Skin Peels

Superficial peels are no down-time treatments that are excellent for maintenance and prevention of optimum skin health. Results are best when they are performed monthly (your natural skin cell cycle is approximately 30 days) and the ‘strength’ of the peel solution can be increased over time as your skin resiliency improves.

Resurface – Glycolic acid : best for sun-damaged skin

Radiant – Lactic acid : best for dry and sensitive skin

Clear – Salicylic acid : best for oily and acne prone skin

Peel boosters – Mandelic acid, citric acid and other peel booster solutions can be included as required.

Medical Grade Skin Peels

Medical grade peels address specific skin concerns by using potent active ingredients. In some cases, your skin will need preparing with products at home before starting treatment, and aftercare products will be required to support the recovery process. All pre and post-treatment products required are included in our treatment pricing.

Glow – The glow peel can be mild (1 layer) or intense (2-4 layers). It improves skin texture, hydration and pigmentation whilst providing an immediate glow as well as longer-lasting results.

Retinol – A unique leave-on peel that is completely heat, sting and tingle free! The retinol peel is ideal for oily and acneic skin and is safe to use on all skin tones.

TCA – An intense peel that renews the whole of the outer skin layer (the epidermis) and reduces fine lines, sun damage and skin laxity.

Your STORY aesthetician will balance what your skin type uniquely needs with what your lifestyle demands. For example, you may want a “no-downtime” approach which requires a longer course of gentle resurfacing treatments that don’t produce any redness or visible peeling. Or, you may want a shorter course of intense treatments for rapid results that you might need to fit around your social calendar.

We have peels for every skin tone. Treating darker tones and Black skin requires specialist knowledge. Our practitioners know how to approach every skin tone and skin type to carefully assess how your genetic ancestry will affect your skin’s reaction to peels.

When using particular active ingredients, continued use over a period of time is necessary to provide the optimal benefits.  So, where possible, we match your peel ingredients to the actives in your home skincare routine to give you the best results.

Peels are incredibly versatile and we combine them with other treatments to provide even better results wherever we can. A superficial peel will give added smoothing and resurfacing power to a facial, while a medical-grade peel will double the rejuvenating effects of microneedling. All STORY treatment plans are bespoke, so ask about combination treatment options at your consultation.

When you book a course of skin peels we tailor your skin’s journey by upgrading the strength of your peel each time. We start with a low strength peel then slowly move you up for enhanced effects.

Aftercare is extremely important following a chemical peel. It involves lots of hydration and using good quality sun protection with SPF 50+. Your STORY skin expert will talk you through all your skin peel aftercare advice in detail and answer any questions you have.

We provide you with a plan for achieving and maintaining your results. Follow-up peels may be required depending on the reaction of your skin and the concerns we are treating. Your skin peel results can be maintained with a tailored skincare regime and we will talk you through our bespoke recommendations.

FAQs

Below are some of the frequently asked questions people ask regarding this treatment.
If you can’t find the answer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and one of our advisors can help.

This depends on which type of peel you are having and for what purpose. Some skin peels are designed to be monthly whilst others are designed to be every week for a shorter period of time.  If you are having a superficial peel then this is ideal monthly as the cells on your skin surface renew approximately once every 30 days. If you are having a medical grade peel then your practitioner will advise you on the ideal treatment frequency.

Some superficial peels don’t cause any visible peeling while others cause ‘dusting’ where little flakes will come off of your skin but it won’t look ‘peely’.  However, our medical grade skin peels do cause your skin to peel off. Bear in mind that the more visible peeling you are willing to have, the better your results will be! We understand that social downtime is an important factor when planning peels and our practitioner will carefully advise you about how much peeling to expect from your treatment.

No, you can’t have injectable treatments on the same day as a chemical peel. We advise having them 2 weeks before or after.

This depends on which medication and which peel. Some skin peels can be very effective at treating acne, however we would not perform chemical peel treatments if you are taking certain oral prescription acne medication. Your specialist will discuss this with you beforehand to ensure your suitability.

Yes! Peels certainly help with pigmentation however the primary treatment for hyperpigmentation is a prescribed home product regime. Once you are on an effective home product regime then adding in peels can help to speed up the appearance of your results. We can include bespoke skin peels as part of our personalised Pigmentation Programme.

Our STORY Skin Peels Boutique offers a wide range of chemical peels that are generally suitable for all skin types. Your skin expert will create a bespoke treatment plan tailored to your specific skin type and concerns. Peels can help with many different skin concerns as long as there are no medical contraindications. For example, we don’t treat severe skin pathologies which require dermatologist treatment and/or supervision. We will discuss this with you at your consultation or you can contact us to discuss your concerns first.
