What are mid-face injectable treatments?

“Mid-face treatment involves treating the middle part of the face, so the cheek region. For me, it’s one of the key areas of the face to treat as it’s the biggest region we lose volume from as we age,” explains Dr Marcus.

“As we age, we lose volume from our bone, from our fat, from our skin, and as those things lose volume, we get the telltale signs of ageing on the surface of the skin.”

“STORY mid-face filler treatments involve using a hyaluronic acid-based gel to put back that lost volume. Our expert doctors are able to ensure this is carefully placed in the right plane, at the right depth to restore lost volume. This means you will still look like you and won’t end up with over-exaggerated features that you never had in the first place,” he assures.

Do mid-face fillers give natural-looking results?

“When mid-face injectable treatments are done well, they can look natural and still look like you – just a little bit more of a refreshed version. Most of my patients at STORY Southwell and STORY Marylebone want a result where they don’t look different. They actually don’t look like they’ve had treatment, they simply have a fresher appearance. That’s really the ideal result.”

“In the video above, I take you through the injection techniques we use to create beautiful, proportionate filler results in the mid-face region,” Dr Marcus advises. “These involve using both a needle and a cannula. A cannula is a device which allows us to provide a safer, more effective treatment which is also more comfortable for you.”

Treating the under eye area and combining filler treatments

“In addition to restoring lost volume in the cheek areas, mid-face injectable treatments can also combat signs of ageing under the eyes,” he notes. “Some people feel they look a bit tired and ask for something called tear trough filler to help them look more awake. Tear troughs are under eye hollows and one option for treating these is to use a mid-face approach. Through deliberate placement of precisely the right amounts of appropriate dermal filler, we can counteract this hollowing. This adds back a natural, youthful contour to the under-eye area, without it looking unnaturally plump.”

“The STORY signature Liquid Facelift is a great way to combine mid-face treatments for an overall refreshed appearance. Each Liquid Facelift is completely personalised and tailored to your specific concerns following an in-depth consultation with either myself or one of our other doctors,” says Dr Marcus.

“This type of multi-area filler treatment – often referred to as Full Face Filler treatment – is becoming increasingly popular for a number of reasons. Not only does this approach save you time as you can generally have all your treatments completed at once, offering a total subtle facial rejuvenation in one sitting, it also creates a supportive structure whereby the treatment effects compliment each other. This can help your dermal filler results last longer, making them more effective.”
